Bilateral vs Single Internal Mammary Artery Grafts for Coronary Artery Bypass in the United States

چکیده

BackgroundThe use of the bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) in coronary bypass grafting remains controversial. The objective this study was to investigate long-term outcomes using BIMA vs single (SIMA) United States.MethodsMedicare beneficiaries who underwent primary isolated surgery SIMA or from 1999 2010 were included retrospective study, with follow-up through 2014. Benefit of bilateral over single internal mammary artery grafts for multiple coronary artery bypass grafting.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) grafts in isolated CABG. METHODS AND RESULTS Beginning in April 1985, elective primary multiple CABG for multivessel disease was performed in 1131 patients. The early and late results of 688 patients who received single internal mammary artery (SIMA) grafts and 443 patients who receive...

Different Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts Sequential Saphenous Vein Grafts and Internal Mammary Artery Grafts

Characteristics of blood-flow velocities were investigated at different sites in two types of coronary artery bypass grafts, sequential saphenous vein grafts (SSVG) and internal mammary artery grafts (IMAG). The latter appear to have the longest life span. The patency rate of the side-to-side anastomosis of the SSVG is better than that of the end-to-side anastomosis. The SSVG was anastomosed to...

Propensity-matched analysis of bilateral internal mammary artery vs single internal mammary artery in 7702 cases of isolated coronary artery bypass grafting.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate early outcomes of bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) compared with single IMA (SIMA) in patients who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). METHODS Patients who received isolated CABG with SIMA or BIMA were retrospectively reviewed using the Japan Adult Cardiovascular Surgery Database from 210 institutions for 2008 and 2009. We performed a one-...

Free internal mammary artery for coronary bypass.

An improved technique of free internal mammary artery (IMA) to ascending aorta anastomosis for coronary bypass is described. A small patch vein with a suitable side branch or branches is interposed, connecting the proximal end of a detached IMA to the ascending aorta. A single or double free IMA alone or in combination with an additional saphenous vein graft was performed in 77 patients. A tota...

Clinical implications of internal mammary artery bypass grafts: the Coronary Artery Surgery Study experience.

From the Coronary Artery Surgery Study Registry, all patients undergoing initial bypass surgery procedures with independent vein grafts were identified. The 950 patients receiving an internal mammary artery bypass graft were compared with the 6027 patients receiving vein graft alone. Improved survival rates with internal mammary artery grafts were noted at hospitals in which these grafts were p...
